Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is the re-emergence of the Chicken Pox (varicella virus) that most people usually get during childhood. While most people in their 50's or older experience Shingles, it is mainly caused due to a weakened immune system or because of stress or trauma that you may be experiencing. In this article, I'm going to share a few of the Shingles alternative treatment that are available.
One of the biggest symptoms of Shingles is the dreaded Shingles rash, which can be extremely painful and itchy. While most doctors will prescribe prescription medications or creams, there are many Shingles alternative treatment options that you have.
First, a healthy diet is extremely important. You want to make sure you're consuming lots of vegetables and fruits. Stay away from anything too heavy or difficult for your body to digest – that means junkfood, meat, dairy products, and anything else that will require a lot of energy to digest. Your body will require energy to fight off the virus and symptoms to get back to optimal health.
Another important Shingles alternative treatment is taking Vitamin C, a multi-vitamin and minerals. This will help boost your immune system and make it stronger.
For the Shingles rash, you can numb the pain by using ice packs or wet cloths. For the itchiness, you can use Calamine lotion, or oral antihistamines such as Benadryl.
You will want to make sure you're washing the blisters and rash at least twice a day to keep the infected area clean. One of the ways you can do this is through a bathing procedure. This allows you to soak the rash and blisters underwater as a Shingles alternative treatment. You can add baking soda, uncooked oatmeal or even colloidal oatmeal such as Aveeno.
As mentioned earlier, there are many Shingles alternative treatment options that are available to use. It's important to experiment and try different methods, as everyone's body will react differently.
